l have had mild tinitus for some years which comes and goes - no big problem...l have recently started piano lessons so l am practicing every day and have noticed the ringing sound in my ears has worsened...The piano is not set to a loud volume...Will l have to give it up or suffer worsening tinitus?

No, you are probably in a quiet room to play the piano and listening to the music. This makes a person more conscious of any noise.
Go into a busy street with lots of traffic and the tinnitus does not intrude at all.
Carry on with your music, you will learn to tune the tinnitus out, and that is all anyone can do about the aggravating ringing.
