over the last four years l have had breathing problems that seemed to come out of no where and they include coughing, wheezing, can not catch my breath at all, tingling through out my fingers (after a while) and it feels like a elephant is sitting on my chest but it has worsened because it used to happen every few months now it is happening more than once a day and it has developed a harder impact to (last longer and is worse) l have hay-fever allergies and have been exposed to secondhand smoke. So does anyone know what it could be? Please help because l am tired of it controlling my life and always feeling like a fish out of water. Allwill be appreciated and the best one will receive points thanks again!
No l do not have anxiety problems.
No l have not been checked for asthma because l have not been for a check up for about 6 years.
Well l have been to the emergency room for it and they have gave me and inhaler that works most of the time but they said it was not panic or anxiety is attacks and they said that my chest x-ray was clear of infection.

well, l would see a doctor .but l have these symptoms when l have an anxiety attack. l can always tell when one is coming because of the tingling in my fingers.

Do you have anxiety problems?

it kind of sounds like asthma - have you been checked for that?

l have bad anxiety, & l get panic attacks & the reason l think it gets that far is because of that not being able to breath feeling. its horrable, l hate it. l have a inhaler, & that helps the breathing a lot. You should look into getting one & see if it works for you, & one other time l had found out l had a lung infection, & it was so hard to breath & very uncomfortable/annoying, not being able to take a full breath, & was prescribed a inhaler for that too, & it really helped me breath better then too. So maybe give it a try, u never know. Oh yeah my hands also go numb at night.

Go to ur doctor & get him to check u out for asthma, as if it is he will probably give u another ''preventer'' inhaler which will treat the underlying condition. The inhaler you've got is probably a reliever inhaler which u still need to use to relieve an attack but wo not stop asthma from getting worse.

And if he decides it is anxiety he should be able to give u some help with that, or at least refer u to someone who can. As a rather nervous patient myself l always feel physically better when l walk out of the doctor is surgery & know what I've got - or more important, what l have not got!
