My mom has been smoking since she was 13 and shes 40. She smokes every where and any where. l know its hard for her to quit because she tried more than 4 times and nothing works for her. Her teeth are falling out and shes on her way to a slow death because she has severe asthma and so many health problems. l dont wanna grow up without a mom. Please l need to help her some how!
also its effecting our family because she and my dad go through like 5 packs a day and its expensive

Encourage her. Tell her how you feel about her smoking and how you want her to stop only because you care for her.

Just encourage her and be there for her. That is really all you can do and it might make all the difference. Make sure she knows you're concerned and want to help her. Sorry, that is all I've got.

Tell her to stop cause you really do not like it. That kind of influenece is bad for you. Maybe show her how it is bad for her and help her get through it.

You can not babe. She is the only one that can do it, and she apparently is not ready. l lost my mom to lung Cancer. l know how you feel.

Anyone addicted to anything has to recognize a problem on there own and want to quit by themselves.
So your mom would have to want to quit to stop.

If her smoking habits r that severe, she will probably need to see a doctor & receive a prescription for medication. There r 2 medications indicated for smoking cessation that r very good. The newest & what seems to be the best is a medication called Chantix. It is a pill that u take that blocks the nicotine receptors in ur brain so smoking does not feel or taste good anymore. The other medication is called Wellbutrin. These r 2 very good options. Remember, ur mom has to want to quit in order to be able to. but these medications could help!

What my grandpa did was he threw away all of his cigarettes. ( if she wont do this on her own, throw them away for her) Then he took the money that he normally spent on cigarettes & put it in the bank. Then, everytime the price of cigarrettes went up, he put that much moremoney in the bank. Now he has so much money in the bank like this, he buys a new car evry year!!! Is not that amazing! Tell her this so she can realize that:
A) she is spending lots of money on small things. Although cigarretes dont cost that much, it adds up over time
B) If she didnt buy cigarrettes (or atleast not as many) She could have something even better like a new car, house, shopping spree, or whatever she really likes & wants.
And if this doesnt work, sign her up or get her to sign up for some classes & courses that help people stop smoking. You can get ur dad or another trusted adult to help u if u need help with this!

l really do not think you can l think she got to want to stop her self before anybody can help her.

There is hope! l am an ex smoker & l was able to quit because of the calm, cool, quiet & sincere reasoning of my daughter. She would every once in awhile come to me in a very calm & direct manner & tell me that she wished l would stop & why. She did not argue or harass & finally one day her clear voice was all l could hear in my head. And l was just able to stop.

If u continually tell ur mother u can not lose. Even if she never does quit, l promise, ur voice will be in her head. She will know how much u love & care. And u will know u said what u needed to. In the end the choice is hers, but as they say, love never fails to register.

You can not help her to do this. You can encourage her if she tries to quit, but she has to do it for herself. It has to be her decision, otherwise it wo not have a chance of success.

tell her your scared of her dying and that she can get tablets from the doctor that are not expensive and do work without will power
