For the past 6 hours I've been feeling a painful tightness in my lungs/chest and the base of my throat. It hurts when l breathe, and especially when l cough or swallow. (Worsens slightly when l lay down.)
I am a 17 year-old female at average weight; I am never around people who smoke and neither do I. l do not suffer from anxiety either. (And l do not THINK it is heartburn...)

l was wondering if anyone is suffering the same problems/know the cause of this?

It sounds like it could be bronchitis or even pneumonia? l always use this website familydoctor.org . look on the left toolbar for SEARCH BY SYMPTOM and you can look up the symptoms that you have and it will give advice on what it could be.

I'd suggest you go and see a doctor . it does not sound terribly good.

The first answer could certainly be correct. But whether or not it is pneumonia, you definitely have some sort of respiratory distress going on, the beginning of some sort of infection. l would certainly see a doctor as soon as your able. Nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand.
