although the long term reasons are reason enough....the instant results are my motivation? l wanna think that right now my lungs are cleaning out and that causes me to not smoke..i could be lying to myself but it works LOL! anyone know any real immediate things that happen when you first quit?

headaches, but after a while they will go away, and you will be able to breathe better and do more exercise, your complexion will clear up and it will be definetly be worth it.

At very very first, you will probably cough up some mucus. But your lung capacity should increase dramatically very quickly.

You will also smell better . There is nothing worse than stale smoke on peoples clothes and body and breath.

When you're motivated enough to quit, you may start feeling withdrawal symptoms. You may get a headache because your body is craving the nicotine. Yes, like a drug. Try and substitute the cigarette for something else. Some people l know have tried gum or snacks. You may also notice some weight gain.

l was told your lungs do start clearing out right away. For me, l did not notice it though; only the craving for a smoke and so which l started snacking more to make up for it. l just kept telling myself l do not smoke, l am not a smoker; that help me to not start right back again. The first 2 weeks were the worst, after that not so bad.

The biggest thing for me when l quit smoking was l was really crabby all the time (even though that is not much of a motivator). After a few days, l started to taste food better and it was easier to breath, especially when exercising. l did not stink like cigarettes anymore either!
