A high WBC is usually a sign of an infection. WBCs help fight infection and when there is one, the body will produce more to fight it.

Check your tonsils, as they sometimes tend to swell up without any direct symptoms. l had that problem a couple of years back. My doctor prescribed me some antibiotics and that was the end of that.

If u had a WBC count check then presumably u saw a doctor or nurse. should not u ask them to diagnose? If u r worried then definitely see ur doctor, but as someone else already said it is probably a sign of an infection & ur body jacking up it is immune system to fight it. You probably have a minor infection without even realising! The count will go back to 'normal' when ur body has fought off the infection. In any case, u r only just outside the range for 'moderately high'.

Here r some chunks l copied from the web:

''The doctor counts the total number of white blood cells & works out how many different types of white blood cells the patient has. This is called the differential WBC count.

The number of white blood cells may go up & this may be because of a bacterial infection, bleeding or a burn. More rarely the cause of a raised white count is due to leukaemia, cancer or malaria.

Doctors keep an eye on white blood cells to work out how a disease is changing. By monitoring the blood count in this way they can alter the patient is treatment as necessary.

Eating, physical activity & stress can cause an increased WBC count.

Pregnancy in the final month & labour may be associated with increased WBC levels.

If u have had ur spleen removed, u may have a persistent mild to moderate increased WBC count.

The WBC count tends to be lower in the morning & higher in the late afternoon. WBC counts r age-related.

There r many drugs that cause both increased & decreased WBC counts.

Hope that is useful - but if u r really worried do see ur doc!
