Albuterol does nothing for me, does any one have this problem and if so, what rescue inhaler does work for asthma.

Try Advair! It does wonders for my husband talk to your allergist

Actually, it may just be that u need to add an additional medication to ur respiratory repertoire. Advair is not a rescue inhaler, it is an inhaled steroid. It is helpful for many patients because it provides a twice daily, localized 'boost' to help prevent inflammation in the airway & lung tissue. It is usually taken twice a day & is different than traditional 'by mouth' steroids (ie prednisone) since it is inhaled directly into the lung tissue, thereby reducing some risks that accompany long term use of systemic steroids like increased risk of infection, high blood sugars, etc. Then again, u may just need to use a spacer with ur albuterol inhaler. This device sort of 'traps' the medication until u can compose ur breathing enough to take the DEEP breath inhalers require to reach their intended target; otherwise, if u have not already try this technique for using u albuterol: When u r feeling short of breath, shake the inhaler well, then, as calmly as possible, slowly blow out all of ur breath. Then, as u take a steady, DEEP breath in, spray the inhaler toward the back of ur throat until u can no longer inhale.hold it for a few seconds, then purse ur lips & blow that air out slowly. Wait one minute before u repeat. l hope this helps a little. By all means, do not ditch ur rescue inhaler.
