It is a disease where the production of mucous causes lung infections.
It is a hereditary disease.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease of ur mucus & sweat glands. It affects mostly ur lungs, pancreas, liver, intestines, sinuses, & sex organs.

Normally, mucus is watery. It keeps the linings of certain organs moist & prevents them from drying out or getting infected. But in CF, an abnormal gene causes mucus to become thick & sticky.

The mucus builds up in ur lungs & blocks the airways. This makes it easy for bacteria to grow & leads to repeated serious lung infections. Over time, these infections can cause serious damage to ur lungs.

Cystic fibrosis (also known as CF, mucoviscoidosis, or mucoviscidosis) is a hereditary disease affecting the exocrine (mucus) glands of the lungs, liver, pancreas, & intestines, causing progressive disability due to multisystem failure.

Thick mucus production results in frequent lung infections. Diminished secretion of pancreatic enzymes is the main cause of poor growth, fatty diarrhea, & deficiency in fat-soluble vitamins. Males can be infertile due to the condition congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens. Often, symptoms of CF appear in infancy & childhood. Meconium ileus is a typical finding in newborn babies with CF.
There is no cure for CF, & most individuals with cystic fibrosis die young: many in their 20s & 30s from lung failure. However, with the continuous introduction of many new treatments, the life expectancy of a person with CF is increasing to ages as high as 40 or 50. Lung transplantation is often necessary as CF worsens.

Cystic fibrosis is one of the most common life-shortening, childhood-onset inherited diseases.

Since you know what it is l will just say that people with CF taste salty.
My best friend since high school had CF, she passed away in March waiting for a double lung transplant. She was 30, so when she was a baby they did not expect her to live very far into her teens.
