First, pat them hard on the back to try to dislodge the object.

If that does not work, put a child under one lying on it is stomach, resting on ur forearm with their head supported in ur hand & pat them on the back up & in slightly. For a child over one, turn them upside down & pat on the back. In the mean time, if there is someone else with you, have them phone for an ambulance.

If that does not work, lie the child flat on their back & downward thrusts with the heel of the hand on their breastbone (use two fingers for a baby).
