l have been taking a course of this steroid for just one week for Bronchitis but seem to be suffering from short term side effects. I've stopped taking them now since yesturday morning but having:
Frequent urination during the night (l never used to get up before!)
Feeling hot and unable to sleep properly
Heavy feeling when l blink (Lack of sleep?)
I am asking on here because l do not wanna pester the GP surgery sounding like a hypochondriac.
How long do these symptoms last if you are familiar with this.I am worried!

l was only prescribed them for 1 week and have taken 6 days worth.My eyes do feel a bit weird

have you read the leaflet that comes with the medication and seen if these are side affects? if your worried, ring your GP they do not mind answering your questions. good luck

Every time l have had to take them they did the same thing to me. Peeing alot is helping to get rid of the fluid in your lungs from the illness. My father is on them now for pnuemonia & they make his blood sugar go up.

You CANNOT abruptly stop taking prednisone. Prednisone, in high doses especially, can have some nasty side effects.
None of the side effects u mention r common however read on:

If u r taking prednisone to treat a long-lasting disease, the medication may help control ur condition but will not cure it. Continue to take prednisone even if u feel well. Do not stop taking prednisone without talking to ur doctor. If u suddenly stop taking prednisone, ur body may not have enough natural steroids to function normally. This may cause symptoms such as extreme tiredness, weakness, slowed movements, upset stomach, weight loss, changes in skin color, sores in the mouth, & craving for salt. Call ur doctor if u experience these or other unusual symptoms while u r taking decreasing doses of prednisone or after u stop taking the medication.
Prednisone may cause side effects. Tell ur doctor if any of these symptoms r severe or do not go away:

headache
dizziness
difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
inappropriate happiness
extreme changes in mood
changes in personality
bulging eyes
acne
thin, fragile skin
red or purple blotches or lines under the skin
slowed healing of cuts & bruises
increased hair growth
changes in the way fat is spread around the body
extreme tiredness
weak muscles
irregular or absent menstrual periods
decreased sexual desire
heartburn
increased sweating

Some side effects can be serious. If u experience any of the following symptoms, call ur doctor immediately:

vision problems
eye pain, redness, or tearing
sore throat, fever, chills, cough, or other signs of infection
seizures
depression
loss of contact with reality
confusion
muscle twitching or tightening
shaking of the hands that u cannot control
numbness, burning, or tingling in the face, arms, legs, feet, or hands
upset stomach
vomiting
lightheadedness
irregular heartbeat
sudden weight gain
shortness of breath, especially during the night
dry, hacking cough
swelling or pain in the stomach
swelling of the eyes, face, lips, tongue, throat, arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
difficulty breathing or swallowing
rash
hives
itching

Feeling hot can be a side effect of prednisone as is decreased or blurred vision . According to the website l have looked at below, if u r having decreased or blurred vision u should see ur doctor.It never hurts to talk to ur doctor or pharmacist about what u r experiencing .After ur doctor writes a prescription, it is ur pharmacist is job to make sure the medication they deliver is the appropriate dose. Then the pharmacist checks to see if the medication interacts with any other ones u r take. Your pharmacist is always available to answer any questions about ur medications that u may have. If u r feeling this way, u might want to talk to a doctor at a hospital over the phone & they can tell u if what u r experiencing is due to ur bronchitis or if it is a side-effect of ur medication. l hope u feel better really soon :)

Call ur GP & discuss ur worries over the phone or go & see him. Some of ur symptoms may be disease related rather than drug related & he can clarify that for you. Steroids r serious stuff & Doctors not only have a duty to treat but also to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment & monitor for adverse side effects. Doctors & Pharmaceutical companies rely on us giving them feedback even on such well used drugs as Prednisone so do not feel bad about it. Good luck

Here is how l went with prednisolone, l have been taking them on & off since l was 10 now l am 20, last year in july l was taken off them for surgery & it took about a week to feel the full affect of them gone, l was pretty sick at the time & u being more healthier than me (although it probably doesnt seem like it with bronchitis) would probably be 4-5 days. As long as u followed ur doctors instructions like not stopping taking them abruptly u should be fine. But if u r concerned talk to ur doctor
