My cousin is 16 and has been smoking cigarettes on and off for a couple months, maybe half a year. she hasnt smoked in about 8 days. Are there any kind of bad side affects to quitting smoking cigarettes cold turkey?

She may not have had a physical addiction with smoking a small amount.
All the physical symptoms of no nicotine go away in about 14 days. they peak at 24-48 hours after quitting. They include headache, nervousness, irritability, upset stomach and fatigue.
For me and a lot of people l know the mental cravings never fully go away. l went cold turkey 11 years ago.

Can get irritable..But this is the best way to quit. She hasnt smoked long enough in her life for it to take a firm hold, but it is sooo addicting that quitting now is the very best choice for her. Make sure you encourage her to keep it up! Its not easy but its worth it. Filthy and deadly habit.
Oh by the way, the worst is over after 8 days. Now its just the brain that has to adapt. The body has already detoxed!

l quit smoking cold turkey after 20 years and no, there are no side effects except feeling like you are forgetting to do something. It is irritating and can make you kind of jittery but tell him to stick with it. The outcome will be much better than if he does not quit. Good luck! Remember- one day at a time.

No side effects. Just cold turkey usually ends up in starting again. Best thing to do is cut back slowly. That way you do not drive yourself crazy, and start up again.

Yes, but only if you're addicted. If she has not noticed them yet, she is not addicted. Believe me, she would know if she was.

If ur cousin is not addicted there will be no problems. Is she does have a nicotine addiction l doubt that going cold turkey will help to quit for good.

Going cold turkey or cutting down do not work because they give nicotine the power, not the other way around. The vast majority will fail to quit using these methods.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If she really wants to quit then she must discover the reasons why she smokes & then eliminate or change these thought processes.

l doubt she will be addicted after smoking for such a short period of time. If she does have trouble quitting then send her to our blog, it has some really helpful information.

Good luck, l hope she never touches a cigarette again.
