l went to the Dr last Wednesday (8/20) and he gave me Amoxicillin for strep throat and a sinus infection, plus maximum strength Mucinex for sinus blockage.l feel worse than l did before l started on the antibiotic! Now he is saying that he can not get me in until next Wednesday and l do not wanna wait 2 weeks to get the right treatment for this thing.l feel like l have a 300lb man sitting on my chest, l cough with almost every deep breath that l take, and when l do cough, my head feels like my brain is smashing up against my skull and trying to break through, my ears both feel like they have ice picks in them and my throat is on fire.

l have some serious kind of illness going on here....I am going to go to the ER saturday after l finish my amoxicillin just incase l need an entire bottle of it to cure me.

Are there any good home remedies that you know of? Zicam, Mucinex, Vicks Vapor Rub, cough drops...etc...whats good for things like this?!?

Go to another doctor, you need an antibiotic with a steroid. This is very serious.

l often have recurring sinus infections/ bronchitis so l know how're you're feeling! And its no fun. l have taken the antibiotic route several times but have lately discovered some home remedies that have saved me from the dreaded antibiotic. First of all, go to ur local neighborhood pharmacy & get a saline nasal rinse, not a spray, but a rinse. It may be slightly uncomfortable, but it will clear out ur sinuses & the salt in the solution will kill the bacteria in ur sinuses & help aid the anitbiotics along. This should help the chest congestion by not added more to it. As for the chest congestion, I've found that there is really not a lot u can do but wait for it to pass. Mucinex is my drug of choice in this area, it makes it a lot easier to get all that junk out of ur system. Lastly, try to take lots of Vitamin C & eat garlic! It is apparently a natural antibiotic too so that could help u out. Feel better!!!

P.S. Try to find a probiotic in the store to try to even out the natural bacteria in ur system that the antibiotics wipe out.
