My mucus is kind of bloody not to much blood but tiny bit in it also l am coughing alot because l think l have a cold. My question is whats wrong with me? Why is my mucus bloody? Also should l cough when l need to or just hold in my caugh?
Also should l drink hot drinks or Cold ones.

The purpose of coughing is to expel foreign material [such as mucus] out of ur lungs, so when someone has pneumonia or if they've had surgery, they r EXPECTED to cough to get the lungs as clear as possible. You'd want an expectorant for that type of cough, to loosen up the fluids in ur respiratory system.

The problem with respiratory viruses is that the drainage from ur sinuses can tickle the crap out of ur upper respiratory system which makes u have a nagging cough that is not necessarily productive but merely annoying. You'd need a cough suppressant for that, & l usually end up with an antihistamine AND a decongestant for that type of cough.

The presence of blood [bright red] can indicate that you've injured yourself inside somewhere; a scrape or a little cut from the effort of coughing so much.

Dark red blood would indicate something more serious.

l would think the presence of ANY blood means u should probably be seen by a doctor to rule out an infection, or a need for an inhaler.

Meanwhile, hot drinks help to loosen things up, as well. Cold drinks can be an asthma trigger for people with asthma.
