l have a lot of breathing issues, interrupted sleep, and a dry throat and drippy nose, both of which come and go.l do not know for a fact that all of these symptoms are linked to enlarged adenoids (well actually, I am only unsure about the sleep, because the doctor told me that the other symptoms were a result of the adenoids), but l do know that my adenoids are pretty large.It is not as bad as when l was a kid, but l honestly can not remember the last time l was able to breathe comfortably through my nose like a normal person.l mean, I am used to it, but it is still annoying.I am also wondering about the risks of the surgery.And l wonder if my case is even that severe, since the doctor never told me that l could get them surgically removed.l just happened to find out on the internet.Am l just being a baby about this?=/

Sounds more like a sinus problem than a throat/adenoid one. Possibly post-nasal drip caused by allergy.

Adenoids r part of the lymphatic system which is a major immune system defense network. The throat is near the portal of entry to the body by many pathogens. i had my adenoids removed last november & this is what happened to me
well l went to the doctor because l could not breathe through my nose properly & l had a really sore throat & it felt like there was something stuck in there.
turns out there wasn't, it was my adenoids! That was totally unexpected. Apparantly ur adenoids r supposed to shrink to the size of a pin head by the time you're 5 but mine were the size of a ten cent piece!!
He gave me some tablets to take each day to try & make them shrink & when l went back they had not worked so suggested that surgery was the only option.
l freaked out but he reassured me that it was going to be okay. In & out of hospital in a day, a 1 hour procedure, & everything will be sweet as.
And the operation was fine!
i Just went in hospital in the morning, got to lay on a bed at watch tv for 2 hours, went in the theatre, they knocked me out by happy gas & an hour later my mum was feeding me a lemonade ice block! yay
i was fine as soon as l got up, l even walked over to the other bed!
i spent the next two hours in the hospital in pain, but it was bearable. my nose was fine, it did not hurt one bit, my throat was just killing me because they had to enter throgh the throat & it was bleeding a little.
it hurt to talk & swallow but that all passed within 3 days.
i went home.
had the next two days off school & now i'm all good again!
i can breathe hallelugiah!

the follow up appointment was looing all good & l do not have to go back there ever again.
It is just for 4 weeks after the operaton l had to spray my nose with sailine (salt water) & l could do everything normally!
