Yes. If somebody smokes around them, environmental things (like allergies), chlorine and inhaling other chemicals can all lead to asthma

My cousin who takes excellent care of herself spent about 2 years in China. When she came home she was out at a club dancing and suddenly could not breath. She was rushed to the emergency room to find out that she had an asthma attack. Asthma is something that can develop at any time in a persons life but is usually from breathing in polluted air and toxins.

Yes!

Asthma, in addition to being a disease one is born with, can develop through a variety of ways.

One way that most people do not know about is misalignments in the spine. Your ribs, being attached to ur spine, can shift along with the spine if it shifts alignment. This will put pressure on ur lungs, giving u asthma like symptoms.

If ur asthma recently developed, it might be worthwhile to see a chiropractor. If the problem is alignment, it is easily fixed, & will remove ur symptoms completely.

Asthma is described in many ways- Allergic Asthmatics, Chronic Asthma, Asthmatic Bronchitis and so on..
The so called whizzing developed suddenly due to allergens like sudden change in temperature, dust, chlorinated water, some flavors etc, can be called as allergic asthma. Avoiding the allergens and at the same time developing good breathing habits can take care of such situations.

Asthma is generally diagnosed during childhood, adolescence, or early adulthood. It is usually diagnosed unless symptoms worsen and/or the patient has an severe asthma attack. Typical symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, or dry cough triggered by dusts, pet dander, cold air, & other factors.

Many other diseases can mimic asthma. These may include food allergies, medication allergies (esp. aspirin), seasonal allergies, gastric reflux disease (''heartburn''), acute bronchitis, COPD, upper respiratory tract infections, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, reactive airways dysfunction, & much more.

The most common test for diagnosing asthma is with spirometry. Spirometry is one component of a pulmonary function test (PFT). Another test is bronchoprovocation testing. Other tests to help diagnose or ''rule out'' asthma may include exercise testing, IgE levels, blood counts, laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy, & more.
