Asma?? PLEASE HELP! I need too know FAST!?

l am doing CC for the first time.l had a meet a few days ago and could not breath.l mean at all!l was scared!l had to walk alot!l coude not even make it to the first mile!It has gotten slowly worse.l have a meet tomarrow and do not wanna have to walk again.

l am not weezing or coughing but my ceheast is tight and l have loss of breath because l just walked for like 5 Min.My parents do not think l have it but please help.If l have asma how bad?

You just might have mild Asthma. It is not bad. Your lungs have not been exposed much to air, that is probably why you get a lost of breath so fast.

it doesnt sound like asthma. just like u r out of shape, sorry.
usually u at least wheeze when u have asthma, & it happens on a regualr basis. l just got diagnosed with sports-induced asthma, & it stinks.
but id suggest going over how much you've been running lately.. & how fast you're going. if this only happens during meets, & u can run that pace fine in practice, then maybe u r hyperventilating from nerves or something.

one tip.. chew mint gum before u race, it helps opne us ur airwaves

Lil, if u have wheezed in the past, if u have used inhalers or other medication for wheezing, if asthma runs in the family (especially ur mom), If u cough during the night, or feels tight chest, it is possible that u have excercise- induced asthma. Another possibility is if u have been diagnosed with a murmur. It is not uncommon to find many girls with mitral valve prolaps. Do not panic. 10% of women have it. The other possibility is exhaustion CC is not a walk in the park, u know that. Your coach should help u differenciate if something other than exahustion is going on. Ok, this is my advice: Hold off on CC for now until u get checked out by ur pediatrician. Make sure he does a peak flow meter test (to check ur lungs, he will listen to ur heart & lungs. After he is done, he will tell u when it is safe to go back. It might be nothing, but it is always good to check it out. :)

u sure u were not having a panic attack?Only going to the doctors will they be able to tell u if u have it,My sister has it u sounds exactly like what she was going through a couple of days ago she had to go to the hospital they gave her a steroid shot that hurt but helps relax the tubes where u breath & they gave her a breathing treatment also.Tell ur parents its only to be on the safe side its better safe than sorry.What do they want to wait for, for u to die cause u could not breath sheesh!

l have asthma, and l am telling you go to a dr. do not listen to mom and dad. If you are not breathing what do you think happens. you have to breath to live you need Oxygen.

What Is Exercise-Induced Asthma?

Like it sounds, exercise-induced asthma is asthma that is triggered by vigorous or prolonged exercise or physical exertion. Most people with chronic asthma experience symptoms of asthma during exercise. However, there r many people without chronic asthma who develop symptoms only during exercise.
Why Does Exercise Cause Me to Have Asthma?

During normal breathing, the air we take in is first warmed & moistened by the nasal passages. Because people tend to breathe through their mouths when they exercise, they r inhaling colder & drier air.

In exercise-induced asthma, the muscle bands around the airways r sensitive to these changes in temperature & humidity & react by contracting, which narrows the airway. This results in symptoms of exercised-induced asthma, which include:

* Coughing with asthma
* Tightening of the chest
* Wheezing
* Unusual fatigue while exercising
* Shortness of breath when exercising

The symptoms of exercise-induced asthma generally begin within 5-20 minutes after the start of exercise, or 5-10 minutes after brief exercise has stopped. If u r experiencing any of these symptoms with exercise, inform ur doctor.
If l Have Asthma, Should l Avoid Exercise?

No. You should not avoid exercising with asthma because of exercise-induced asthma. There r steps u can take for prevention of asthma symptoms that will allow u to maintain normal physical activity. In fact, many athletes -- even Olympic athletes -- compete with asthma. For example, in the 1996 Olympic Games, 1 out of every 6 athletes had asthma. These Olympians competed in a variety of sports such as track & field, mountain biking, kayaking, cycling, & rowing. The following is an abbreviated list of athletes who have competed despite their asthma.

Asthma inhalers r the most common & effective way to deliver asthma medication to the lungs. There r some combination asthma inhalers, which contain two different medications: an inhaled steroid & a long-acting bronchodilator. These combination asthma inhalers r popular due to their convenience, & the medications last for at least 12 hours.
