My Dr. gave me a note to go back to work Thursday, and it was actually supposed to be Monday, but l told her l could not miss that much work.l work in a gym and do not wanna go back and get everyone sick, but l am afraid they will fire me. The reason l am scared of being fired is because there is only one person per shift, so they have to find coverage. l do have a Dr is note excusing me until Thursday, and do feel a little better NOT 100% though. l hate feeling bad for taking off, but it is my health! What do you all think?

First of all, u have to remember that u work in the fitness business - in a gym no less, so it is not surprising that u r expected to be in the best of health. This means being strong enough to counter illness, or ur immunity & resistance should be able to stand up against various health problems. With the exercise u get, u should be strong enough.

However, respiratory infections r a reality. The causative agents r usually viral - meaning airborne organisms. Translation: it is easily communicable. Nonetheless, it is self-limiting. That means without medication u get well, just from ur own immune system combating these organisms.

Bottom line, u r as well as u feel & think u are. If u feel better, then u probably r better. But just the same, if u r recovering from illness, u should take it easy & do not over exert or tire yourself. You can go back to work. Relax, l know people in the gym r not expected to go non-stop on exercise. Just take it easier till u feel 100% fit.
